— Funeral services for Dr. Jacob H. Enns, 76, well known retired eye, ear, nose and throat specialist here, were held Saturday afternoon at the Bethel College church. Rev. Russell Mast officiated. Dr. Enns died Thursday afternoon at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital where he had been a patient for about a week. A native of the Inman community, he engaged in general practice there until 1920 when he went to Vienna, Austria for further study. He practiced in Newton from 1922 until his retirement in 1947. Surviving are his widow, the former Margaret Klassen; two sons, Dr. Eugene K. Enns and Dr. James H. Enns of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Rex Youngquist of Miami, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Paul G. Enns of Ft. Pierce, Fla.

DR. JACOB H. ENNS
Jacob H. Enns, son of Cornelius and Elizabeth Martens Enns, was born at Inman, Kansas on April 6, 1882. He lived in Inman and Newton all his life.
He attended Bethel Academy and graduated from Fairmount College (Wichita University) in 1907. While a student at Fairmount, he was a member of the choir, served as cornet soloist and was active in other music activities. He served as president of his graduating class at Fairmount in 1907 and was honored in 1957 at the golden anniversary of his graduating class. He taught mathematics for one year at Bethel College immediately preceding D. H. Richert.
He graduated from the University of Chicago Medical School in 1911 and served his internship at St. Margaret's Hospital in Kansas city, Kansas. He was in general practice at Inman, Kansas until 1920 when he went to Vienna, Austria, to specialize in Eye, Ear, Nose and throat. He practiced Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat in Newton from 1922 until his retirement in 1947.
