— Solomon P. Krehbiel, 78, well-known retired farmer of Moundridge, died at the Mercy Hospital there Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Eden Mennonite Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Ben J. C. Stucky of Moundridge and Mrs. Walter Foth of Cordell, Okla.; one brother, Jacob W. of Moundridge; one sister, Miss Anna Krehbiel of Newton; and four grandchildren.

SOLOMON P. KREHBIEL

Solomon P. Krehbiel, our husband and father, son of Peter M. and Frenie Preheim Krehbiel, was born March 28, 1879, in the Moundridge community, McPherson County, Kansas. Here he grew to manhood, received his early training, and engaged in farming throughout his entire active life.

He was baptized upon his confession of faith and was received as a member of the Eden Mennonite Church on April14,1895, of which he remained a faithful member until his death.

On Feb. 28, 1907, he was united in holy matrimony with Mary Goering. For fifty years they were permitted to share joy and sorrow together until father was called to his eternal Home. This union was blessed with three children, one of whom preceded father in death in infancy. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and was always concerned about the physical welfare and the spiritual growth of his family.

Father was a man of many activities, most of which were related to his church. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and on the building committee of the church in 1924. He also served as a member on the school board and engaged in other community activities.

In 1949 Father developed a heart condition which caused his health to fail. He suffered intensely at different times, but accepted it cheerfully and bore it courageously. He knew what suffering meant, and it reminded him forcefully of the suffering of his Lord. By nature, he was calm and serene, a man of broad vision and firm faith. To us as a family he set an example of noble Christian character which will always influence our lives.

Death came suddenly on Monday, Sept. 23, 1957, at 3:15 p. m. He slipped quietly away to Jesus and so entered the glorious presence and the eternal rest of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He reached the age of 78 years, six months and 27 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure: his wife; two daughters, Elma, Mrs. Ben J. C. Stucky of Moundridge, Kansas, and Esther, Mrs. Walter Foth of Cordell, Okla.; two sons-in-law; four grandchildren, Virginia Stucky, Homer and his wife Betty Stucky, and Marilyn and Lois Foth; one brother, Jacob W. Krehbiel and one sister, Anna P. Krehbiel of Newton, Kansas; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Goering and Anna A. Goering, and many other relatives and friends.
