MRS. C. A. REIMER
Mrs. C. A. Reimer, nee Helena Gaeddert, daughter of Elder and Mrs. Dietrich Gaeddert, daughter of Elder and Mrs. Dietrich Gaeddert, was born Nov. 11,1884, on a farm near Buhler, Kan. where she spent her early childhood days. Here she also attended the public school and later was privileged to supplement this by attending the H. D. Penner preparatory school at Hillsboro, Kan. and the Academy at Bethel, graduating from the latter in 1912.
For 10 years she taught in the public schools of Kansas and Oklahoma, which she enjoyed very much.
On June 1, 1903,she was baptized upon confession of her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and Lord by Elder Abraham Ratzlaff and received into the membership of the Hoffnungsau Church, where she was a faithful member until she transferred to the Goessel Church on July 15, 1920, being one of the charter members. For many years she taught a Sunday school class here and also was active in other church work.
On May 7, 1919, she was united in marriage with our father, C. A. Reimer, with whom she was privileged to share the joys and sorrows of life for 28 years.
By this marriage she took over the duties of motherhood for 12 children. After father's death she cared for her sister, Katherine, until it became necessary for her to be transferred to the Bethesda Hospital. Later she served as matron of the Bethesda Home for the aged for about five years. The work there became too strenuous for her, so she asked to be released from her duties, which was granted in May of this year.
She was enjoying an extended visit with her children and other friends in California when death took her unexpectedly, caused by a cerebral hemorrhage from which she never regained consciousness. She passed from this life into the Great Beyond on Aug. 24 in the Sanantonio [sic San Antonio] Hospital at Upland, Calif. at the age of 73 years, nine months and 13 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure her 12 children with their families, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Reimer and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Reimer of Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Wiens and Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Reimer of Inman, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Reimer of Upland, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Reimer of Dinuba, Calif, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolf Reimer of Independence, Ore., Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Reimer of Omaha, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Reimer, Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Reimer, Mr. and Mrs. Herman C. Reimer and Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Voth, all of Newton; 47 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren; five brothers and their wives; four sisters and their husbands, brother Abe and sister Katherine, who is still lingering in the hospital, and a host of relatives and friends.
Mother was a fine example of devotion to God and her family, always loving and cheerful. Her friendliness and interest in others won for her many friends. — The Family.
