DAUGHTER OF JOHNSON COUNTY, IA. PIONEER DIES AT AGE 97
Wellman, Iowa. — Funeral services were held at the Upper Deer Creek Conservative Mennonite Church May 10 for Mrs. Annie Swartzendruber, 97, one of the oldest residents of Iowa County. She died May 9 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
Mrs. Swartzendruber was born in Johnson County, Iowa, daughter of Rev. Joseph J. Swartzendruber, who was among the first Amish settlers to come to Iowa in 1846. She made her home with a son, Ura [sic Urie] Swartzendruber, until a short time before her death.
