ABRAM DAHL

Abram Dahl was born on September 25 1903 in the district of Terek in southern Russia to Johann and Maria (nee Wiebe) Dahl. He spent his childhood there, but the unfavorable climate and the threat of malaria prompted the family to leave the area and move to Waldheim, the Molotschna, for several years. In 1911 they moved to the village of Tiegenhagen. Here Abe received his education. In 1917 father Dahl went to be with the Lord.

In 1924 his mother and several of the children emigrated from Russia to Canada. They moved to a farm at La Salle, Manitoba. The Lord blessed their efforts, enabling them to establish a home there for the next 26 years. There Abe made his peace with God and later was baptized by Rev. Phillip Wiebe and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church, where he remained a loyal member to the end.

In 1950 the Lord called Abe's mother to himself. Shortly after this Abe moved to Winnipeg, where he and his sister found home at 159 Poplar Avenue. They joined the Elmwood Church. Brother Abe was asked to serve as superintendent of church and grounds (Hausvater). He was also involved in committees and served wherever he was required. These were meaningful years in terms of service and fellowship with many of God's children.

On November 13, at the age of 70 years, he passed away unexpectedly. The funeral was held in the Elmwood Church on November 16.

He leaves to mourn one sister, Neta; one brother, Jacob; two sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; plus a host of friends. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
