JACOB JOHANN FUNK

Jacob Johann Funk was born in a village of Ekatarinivka, South Russia, in 1890. Here with 12 siblings he spent his childhood and youth. During World War I he served in forestry and the medical corps. Upon returning from the service, he joined the Mennonite Church.

In 1919 he married Margaret Klassen, and they were blessed with 8 children. During a time of spiritual awakening Jacob accepted Christ as his Saviour, was baptized and became a member of the M. B. Church.

In 1924 the family emigrated to Canada, settling in S. Saskatchewan; and in 1927 they moved to Coaldale, Alberta, where they have resided every since.

As age increased, Jacob became unable to care for himself, and nursing home care was obtained. On March 26, 1973, he went to be with the Lord. Rev. Peter P. Doerksen officiated at his funeral in Coaldale M. B. Church on March 28.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Margaret Funk, a sister, Mrs. Anna Bartsch, 8 children and t heir families.
