HELENA GIESBRECHT

Helena Giesbrecht (nee Martens) of Steinbach, Man., was born in 1900 in Alexanderthal, Russia, where she spent her childhood and youth. She was converted at age 19 and joined the MB Church. The same year she was married to Willhelm Giesbrecht, with whom she shared joys and sorrows for almost 53 years. Ten children were born of the union, two of whom predeceased her in their childhood.

The family immigrated to Canada in 1926, and finally settled in Steinbach, where they were living for the past 33 years .

In 1967 she suffered a stroke from which she never fully recovered, but was in and out of hospitals from time to time until her death on October 13.

She leaves to mourn her husband, four sons, four daughters, 30 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted in the Steinbach MB Church with Rev. John Reimer and Rev. H. A. Regehr officiating.
