AUTO CRASH FATAL TO SENIOR AT IOWA MENNONITE SCHOOL
Wellman, Iowa. — Injuries suffered in an auto accident Monday evening, April 2, proved fatal early the next morning to Charlotte Elaine Rhodes, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rhodes of Route 4, Washington, and a senior at Iowa Mennonite School.
The young woman was a passenger in a car driven by Albert L. Troyer, who was taking her home following an I.M.S. chorus tour to Nebraska. The car crashed into a bank at a "T" intersection and burst into flames. Floyd Yoder, who was caring for his turkeys nearby, came to the scene and pulled both young people from the car. The gas tank exploded shortly afterward.
The Troyer youth was injured but was reported in good condition at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
