— Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Gaede Kasper, 88, a resident of the Mission Home in Hillsboro, were held March 15 at the Hillsboro M. B. Church. She died at the Salem Hospital on March 12. Mrs. Kasper was born in South Russia, coming to Mt. Lake, Minn. with her parents in 1879.

MRS. ANNA KASPER

Our dear mother, Mrs. Anna Gaede Kasper, was born on Feb. 5, 1868, in Liebenau, South Russia. She came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Gaede, in 1879 and settled near Mt. Lake, Minn. When she was 15 years of age, she trusted the Lord as her Saviour, was baptized by Rev. Heinrich Voth and received into the Mt. Lake Mennonite Brethren Church.

She was married to Peter Kasper, a widower with six sons, on April 29, 1897, at Fairview, Okla. The parents lived on a farm near Fairview until 1918 when they moved to a farm near Hillsboro, Kansas. At this time they also transferred their membership to the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. Into their family were born three sons and five daughters.

The parents retired from the farm in 1928 and bought a little home in Hillsboro. Father was called to his reward on Dec. 5, 1932, after they had lived in blessed companionship for 35 years. After father's death mother made her home at the D. P. Kaspers and for shorter periods also visited with other members of her family. Since 1953, however, she had been living at the Mission Home in Hillsboro.

Mother had several sieges of serious illness during the past several years. On Feb. 10 she entered the Salem Hospital for medical care and treatment. Here she passed away peacefully on Monday evening, March 12, 1956. She reached the age of 88 years, one month and seven days.

Mother's quiet and abiding faith will always be an inspiration and a blessing to us. We shall miss her prayers and her earnest concern for all of us. Although we mourn her departure, it is with the glorious hope that she is at rest with the Lord.

One son, Peter, one granddaughter and four step-children preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure seven children and their families as follows: Jacob and Bertha Kasper of Potwin, Kansas; David and Susie Kasper of Hillsboro; Anna, Mrs. Ed Fenske and husband of Visalia, Calif.; Sarah, Mrs. Hermon Foth and husband of Hillsboro; Kathryn, Mrs. Rudolf Kessler and husband of Lehigh; Marie, Mrs. Frank Conyers and husband of Lingle, Wyoming; Helen, Mrs. Gerald Slaightl and husband of Ellsworth, Kansas; two step-sons, John Kasper of Hillsboro and Gerhard Kasper of Reedley, Calif.; 29 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
