MRS. IDA WIGGERS

Ida, daughter of Jonas and Sarah (Overholt) Holdeman, was born near Hesston, Kans. May 15, 1889 departed this earthly life at her home near Hesston March 15, 1952, aged 62 years and 10 months

Ida grew to womanhood in tin Hesston community. In her youth she accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour, and united with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, at the age of 16 years, to which she remained faithful to the end.

May 3, 1908, she was united in marriage to Noah Wiggers of Hesston, mutually sharing both joys and sorrows for nearly 44 years. They made their home not far from Moundridge, Kans., then later moved to his father’s home near Hesston where they lived for the past 12 years. Eight children were born into this home, five sons and three daughters.

She was a faithful wife and loving Christian mother, with sincere concern for the welfare and salvation of her children and grandchildren, and all those with whom she became acquainted. Her kind disposition won for her many friends and her Christian spirit proved her sincerity. God’s will was her concern, which she brought into living action, and she was rewarded with that peace and assurance which our Master gives to the faithful. She often expressed her readiness to go or stay, according to her Lord's will.

She enjoyed good health until about 12 years ago when there seemed to be a break in her health which gradually grew worse. The last four years she was bedfast much of the time, bearing her troubles in a humble Christian way. Her youngest daughter Vera was with her most of the time. She peacefully fell asleep in Jesus March 15, at 6:15 p. m.

Surviving are her husband, Noah Wiggers; five sons and three daughters, Ernest of Wallace, Kansas, Gladys, Mrs. Clarence Schneider of Moundridge, Earl of Hesston, Wayne of Halstead, Orville of Newton, Ethel, Mrs. Laurence Becker of Galva, Kans., Virgil of Moundridge, Vera, Mrs. Maynard Peters of Moundridge; two sisters and two brothers; 18 grandchildren, with a host of relatives and friends. One grandchild preceded her. Her sister, Mrs. Hattie Onstott Miller, passed away the day of her funeral.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, March 18, in the Meridian church, Min. F. H. Wenger and Min. Milferd Wenger officiating. She was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
