JACOB FRANK HUBERT

Jacob Huebert of Coaldale, Alta., passed away in the Coaldale Hospital on January 6. He was born September 17, 1904,in Margenau, in the Ukraine to Frank and Helena (nee Barg) Huebert. In his early childhood the family moved to Siberia, where they resided until moving to Canada. They lived one year at Duchess, Alta., then came to Coaldale. In his youth he found salvation in Christ and was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren church. In November, 1934 he married Agnes Janz, a union to which were born six boys and one girl. The accidental death of the oldest son, Jacob, was a severe shock to the entire family and especially to the father.

Mr. Hubert carried a great concern for youth, which led to involvement in the establishment of the Alberta Mennonite High School. He devoted 15 years to its development and administration before it closed.

Though he enjoyed robust health most of his life, a serious car accident in 1962 resulted in injuries from which he never fully recovered. Worsening health eventually forced him to give up farming.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes; one daughter, Agnes; five sons, John of Brooks, Alta., Frank of Calgary, David of Fort McMurray, Henry of Kamloops and Ben of Winnipeg; as well as nine grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers. Rev. David Pankratz and Rev. H. Kornelson ministered at the funeral, conducted from the Coaldale MB Church.
