MARGARET LETKEMAN

Mrs. Margaret Letkeman was born on March 19, 1894 in Wiesenfeld, Russia. Her mother died while she was still quite young, so she lived with her grandparents until her father remarried.

In 1903 she came to Canada with her family and settled on a farm at Aberdeen Sask. Those were hard pioneering days with many reverses. At the age of 15 she accepted Christ into her life and was baptized by the late Rev. Jacob Lepp, joining the Mennonite Brethren Church at Aberdeen, Sask.

She was married to John Letkeman in 1916. The Lord entrusted to her the rearing of seven daughters and four sons. In 1948 the family sold the farm and moved to Greendale, B.C. Mrs. Letkeman enjoyed 23 years of fellowship there. The Lord saw fit to take her from this life in the quietness of her home on Saturday morning, August 28.

One of her favourite promises was Psalm 37:4: "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."

She is survived by her husband, John six daughters, Mrs. Wm. (Agnes) Niessen of Abbotsford, B.C., Mrs. Ron (Helen) Telford of Richmond, B.C., Mrs. Tom (Beth) Patterson of Beaver Creek, Yukon, Mrs. John (Margaret) Willms of Hepburn, Sask., Miss Sally Letkeman of Coquitlam, B,C., and Mrs. Graham (Rosella) Mitchell of Regina; three sons, George of Burnaby, B.C., and John and Dave of Fort St. John, B.C.; 29 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; six sisters; and three brothers.

She was predeceased by a son, Henry, in 1948 and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Dyck of Colombia, South America, in 1957.

The funeral was conducted at the Greendale Mennonite Brethren Church on September 1 with Rev. David Froese and Rev. Jacob Harder ministering.
