KATHARINA ARENS

(Mrs.) Katharina Arens of Herbert, Sask. went to be with the Lord on March 20. The funeral was held in the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church on March 24 with Rev. Herman Voth ministering.

Mrs. Arens was born on June 15, 1883 in Chortitz, Manitoba . She was married to Cornelius Arens in 1900 and together they moved to Morse, Sask. in 1914. Later they lived north of Herbert. In 1933 she moved into the town of Herbert. She came into the Herbert Senior Citizens Home in 1965 and in February of this year was moved into the Swift Current Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband in 1932, one son in 1939, another in 1961 and two children, in their infancy. She was very active until her illness and enjoyed sewing for missions and the needy.

She is survived by eight children, Frank of Surrey, B.C., John of Kamloops, B.C., Mrs. Nick (Helen) Hiebert of Chilliwack, B.C., Mrs. Ben (Katharina) Dyck of Swift Current, Mrs. Fred (Margaret) Ruff of Winnipeg, Mrs. Fred (Millie) Forster of Sardis, B.C., Mrs. Abe (Annie) Andres of Winnipeg, Mrs. Archie (Alvina) Lewis of Winnipeg; 63 grandchildren and 65 great grandchildren.
