JACOB J. TOEWS

Jacob J. Toews of Atrous, Sask. passed away August 30 in the Watrous Union Hospital. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Toews was born to Jacob and Susanna Toews on October 19, 1892 in Russia and spent his youth and early married life there. On July 30, 1921, he married Justina Dick with whom he shared 48 years of joys and sorrows. They came to Canada in 1925 and settled first at Fisk, Sask., and then, after a year, near Watrous.

During his last year he was confined to his bed most of the time and though it was a period of great testing, the Lord gave grace and he could say, "Thy will be done." He carried a great concern for young people and spent much time in prayer for them.

He is survived by his wife Justina; sons Waldemar and wife Charlotte of Saskatoon and Victor and wife Anne; daughters Elfrieda and husband Otto Dyck of Glenlea, Man., Gerda and husband Addison Klassen of Winnipeg, Hedy and husband John Wall of Watrous; 22 grandchildren; one brother and three sisters.
