SENATOR VANDENBERG DIED AT GRAND RAPIDS

Senator Arthur H. Vandenberg, internationally recognized Republican leader, died at his home in Grand Rapids, mich. during the night of April 18.

Vandenberg, the son of a harness maker, became a Grand Rapids editor at the age of 22. He was elected United States senator in 1928 and was at one time considered as a possible presidential candidate. He suffered from a long-standing heart ailment but his fatal illness came after two serious lung and tumor operations within the past year.
