Two Deaths Reported At Buhler, Kan.

Buhler, Kan. — Two life-long residents of this community — Mrs. Anna Duerksen and Mrs. Justina Ratzlaff — died last week.

Mrs. Duerksen, 82, passed away July 19 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Hutchinson after a five-week illness. Funeral services were held July 22 at the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church, Rev. George Peters officiating.

Survivors include two sons, Pete of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Ben of Buhler; three daughters, Mrs. Alvin Kroeker of Corn, Okla., Mrs. Alvina Machgan of Buhler and Mrs. Ernest Schroeder of Inman; three brothers, P. P. Adrian and A. F. Adrian, both of Newton, and Jake Adrian of Wichita; one sister, Mrs. D. C. Kroeker of Corn, Okla.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Ratzlaff, 61, died suddenly July 20 at her home. The funeral was held July 23 at the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church, Rev. Lamont Woelk in charge.

Survivors include the widower, Abe; one son, Elmer of Moundridge; one daughter, Mrs. Vernon Buller of Buhler; one brother, D. A. Enns of Guymon, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. J. A. Ratzlaff of Moundridge, Mrs. D. C. Regier and Mrs. H. D. Regier, both of Buhler, and six grandchildren.

MRS. ABRAHAM A. RATZLAFF

Justina Enns, daughter of Dietrich D. and Justina Dick Enns, was born Feb. 19, 1893 in Reno County, Kan. Her childhood days were spent mostly in the Buhler community except for a few years that her family lived at Hooker, Okla.

On June 9, 1912, she made her confession of faith in Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized by Elder A. M. Martens. She was received into the membership of the Hebron Mennonite Church at that time and later transferred to the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member and worker until her death.

On Nov. 9, 1913, she was united in marriage to Abraham A. Ratzlaff. Rev. Peter Fleming performed the ceremony in the Hebron church. three children came to bless their home, Stella (Mrs. Vernon Buller), Elmer, and Waldo, who died at birth. Thirty-four years of our married life were spent on the farm six miles east of Buhler. In 1947 we moved to Buhler.

Mother enjoyed good health till about 14 years ago when she developed some heart conditions. She was under the doctor's care, but was never bedfast very long. Mother enjoyed the activities of her church. She faithfully attended church services and Sunday school. Whenever possible she attended the meetings of her sewing society, which she greatly enjoyed. She worked hard and especially loved to work with flowers. She was kind and loving to us, admonishing us in the ways of her Lord. She was a good provider for her family.

On July 20, 1960, she quietly went home to be with her Lord, reaching the age of 67 years, five months and one day.

Besides her husband, Abraham, she leaves her daughter Stella and husband, Vernon Buller, and their children Gary, Jim and Maribeth of Buhler; her son Elmer and wife Ruby, and their children Paul, Johnny and David of rural Moundridge; one brother, D. A. Enns of Guymon, Okla.;.; and three sisters, Anna, Mrs. John A. Ratzlaff of rural Moundridge, Marie, Mrs. D. C. Regier, and Emma, Mrs. H. V. Regier, both of Buhler. — The Family.
