Mrs. Wittrig was born to John and Anna Wittmer in Alsace Lorraine on Feb. 24, 1851, and came to this country at the age of 16. She was the last surviving member in a family of 13 children. One daughter and four sons survive her.

DEATH CLAIMS OLDEST RESIDENT SHORT TIME BEFORE 99TH BIRTHDAY

Wayland, Iowa. — Funeral services were held at the Wayland church on Feb. 16 for Mrs. Mary Wittrig, 98, oldest member of the congregation and also the oldest resident here. She would have been 99 on Feb. 24.

Mrs. Wittrig was born to John and Anna Wittmer in Alsace Lorraine on Feb. 24, 1851, and came to this country at the age of 16. She was the last surviving member in a family of 13 children. One daughter and four sons survive her.
