•  Funeral services for Ferd Sommerfeld, 79, were held Sunday afternoon at the Goessel Mennonite Church, with Rev. Henry Goossen officiating.  Mr. Sommerfeld died Sept 25 at the Halstead  Hospital.  He was a native and long-time resident of the Goessel community, where he engaged in farming.  His first marriage was to Eva Penner of Hillsboro, who died in 1956.  In 1959 he married Mrs. Ada F. Widney of Halstead, and they resided in Halstead.  Survivors include his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Richard Ashcraft of Grandview, Mo.
