— A well-known couple of the Freeman, S. D. community, Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. M. Hofer, were recently claimed by death within the space of a little over a week. Mrs. Hofer, age 66, passed away on April 29 and Mr. Hofer, who was 81, on May 7. They had resided with a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Hofer, and both were members of the Bethany church.

'''Paul R. M. Hofer,''' son of Michael R. and Anna Tschetter Hofer, was born March 8, 1866, at Johannesruh, South Russia.  He was baptized and received into the Hutterthal Church, Freeman, South Dakota, in 1882.  In 1942 he was accepted as a member of the Bethany Church, Freeman, South Dakota.  He was united in marriage with Aganetha Pankratz in 1898.  To this union five children were born.  Of these one son died.  Those surviving are: Edwin, Herbert, Melvin, and Elsie, wife of Dr. Ernest Hofer.  He died May 7, 1947.  His wife preceded him in death the week before.

Paul R. M. Hofer, son of Michael R. and Anna Tschetter Hofer, was born March 8, 1866, at Johannesruh, South Russia. He was baptized and received into the Hutterthal Church, Freeman, South Dakota, in 1882. In 1942 he was accepted as a member of the Bethany Church, Freeman, South Dakota.
