Upon confession of her faith, she was baptized by the Rev. Christian Schowalter and received into the membership of the Zion Mennonite church of Donnellson, Iowa on Sept. 30, 1877.

In 1887, Mrs. Galle came to Kansas, and for a number of years resided and worked in Wichita. Later she moved to Moundridge and became a member of the West Zion Mennonite church in September 1892. She remained a faithful member of this church until her death.

On Oct. 2, 1892, she was united in marriage to Rev. William Galle the first elder and pastor of the West Zion Mennonite congregation. This was followed by a fruitful ministry of 28 years. Although with the best of care at Bethel Hospital she recovered from the immediate effects of the injury, the shock and other complications were too much for her aging body, and she quietly passed away at 7:00 o’clock on Friday morning March 12, 1954, reaching the age of 90 years, two months and 21 days.

After uniting with the West Zion church and her marriage to Rev. Galle, the church and the building of God's kingdom became her chief concern and interest. The West Zion congregation, organized in 1888, was but a few years old at the time and Moundridge was a new community, so together they shared the privations and hardships of pioneer life. She was always willing to give of her strength and time whenever and wherever the need was evident. For many years she taught the women’s Sunday School class, and for probably just as many or more years she was the leader of the Senior Sewing Society. Gladly and faithfully, yet without any expectation of reward, she tried to fulfill the duties and responsibilities that come to a minister’s wife. The church and its mission remained at the heart of her interest throughout her entire life.

Even though these interests took time and strength, she did not neglect her family. With her marriage she assumed the responsibility for her sister’s three small children born to the first marriage of Rev. Galle. Mrs. Galle and her husband became the parents of six additional children. The nine children were made to feel that they belonged to one family. All were taught the great Christian truths as found in the Bible and were reared in the Christian way of life.

ANNA KREHBIEL GALLE

Anna Krehbiel Galle, daughter of Jacob and Magdalene Krehbiel was born on a farm near Franklin, Iowa on Dec. 19, 1863. The first 24 years of her life were spent in her Iowa home.

Although Rev. Galle upon his own request due to advancing years resigned the chief responsibility for ministering to the congregation in 1909, she and her husband labored faithfully together in the church until Rev. Galle’s death on June 15, 1920.

Mrs. Galle continued to live in the home at Moundridge until Sept. 20, 1952. Because of growing feebleness due to advanced age, she now made her home in Bethel Home For the Aged in Newton. Kansas. Here she accidentally fell and broke her hip on Jan. 28, 1954.

She leaves to mourn her departure her nine children, four daughters and five sons. These are Ralph of Moundridge, with whom she made her home for many years prior to entering the home at Newton; Menno of Paso Robles, Calif.; Marna (Mrs. J. M. Suderman) of Newton; Kurt of Arkansas City, Kansas; Paul of San Leandro, Calif.; Oswin of Valley Center, Kansas; Clara (Mrs. Ed Whaley) of Great Bend, Kansas; Linda (Mrs. Alvin Woelk) of Lamar, Colo.; and Pricilla (Mrs. George Nettleton) of Lamar, Colo. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Emma Bachmann of Woodlake Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Although she will be missed very much by all of her children relatives and friends, we are conscious of the fact that she now is happy and enjoying the reward of her unwavering faith and Christian life.

Funeral services were held at the West Zion Mennonite church on Monday, March 15 at 2:30 p. m. Rev. Harris Waltner, the pastor and Rev. P. P. Wedel officiated.
