Freeman, S. | Freeman, S. D., June 18 — An accident happened here that shocks every one who hears it. Monday evening about twilight Paul J. Hofer, his brother Joe, and sister Sarah, children of the late Rev. John P. Hofer, drove to the Hutterthal church for choir practice. They drove in a Ford touring car. Paul and Sarah were in the rear seat and Joe was at the steering wheel. A little south of the Jake P. Hofer place a tire blowout caused the car to turn into the ditch and tip over. Joe was not hurt any. Paul showed signs of life but looked like a dead man and was taken to the Mitchell hospital where he died at two o'clock in the night. Sarah was badly cut up and bruised and most hurt internally. She was in the Mitchell hospital until yesterday and it is hoped she will recover. Jake P. Hofer saw them drive and was the first one to give assistance. Sarah had to be taken out from under the car. The funeral of this unfortunate young man, only 27 years old, is held this afternoon at the Hutterthal church. — Freeman courier. | ||
