ALONZO M. MILLER

Alonzo (Lon) M. Miller was born in Waupecong, Miami county, Indiana on Oct. 26, 1879, the son of John and Mary (Zook) Miller; died at his home, on Route 4, Kokomo, Indiana, Sept. 12, aged 69 years, 10 months and 16 days.

Although he had been afflicted with a heart ailment for a number of years, his death was sudden; he had been in his usual health on Sunday, but during the night became critically ill and died in a few hours.

In 1898 he was married to Selina Lantz, who survives. Last year the family was privileged to enjoy their golden wedding anniversary.

Surviving with the widow are three daughters and three sons. Milphert, Ruth Mishler, Normah Sommers, Mary Keim, Ora and John, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Albert; and five sisters, Della Troyer, Lizzie Lantz, Pearl King, Sadie Mishler, and Susie Horner.

In his youth he became a member of the Mennonite Church, being a faithful member of the Howard-Miami County congregation for over fifty years. He was vitally interested in the welfare of the church and Sunday school, serving as S.S. superintendent for many years, and also as a teacher and church trustee.

On the day before his death he taught a Sunday school class and led in a public prayer. The home retains precious memories of a loving father and grandfather. His friendly counsel and advice has been appreciated by those who knew him.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." Revelation 14:13.

A large congregation of relatives and friends attended the funeral services, held on Sept. 14. Homer North of Nappanee, Ind. based his sermon on Psalm 16:11. He was assisted in the service by E. j. Hochstedler.
