MRS. ALBERT E. BAER

Mrs. Lydia Aurenheimer [sic Auernheimer] Baer, daughter of Christian and Maria Pletcher Aurenheimer [sic Auernheimer], was born on Jan. 24, 1877 in Summerfield, Ill. and died at the Bethel Home for the Aged at Newton, Kan. on Feb. 19, 1963 at the age of 86 years and 25 days.

She was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Summerfield Mennonite Church on May 7, 1891.

On May 11, 1898 she married Albert E. Baer and together they made their home near Summerfield. Several years later they moved to Halstead, Kan. She was received into the fellowship of the First Mennonite church of Halstead by Rev. J. H. Langenwalter on Mar. 19, 1905. She remained a faithful member here throughout the rest of her life.

The untimely death of her husband on Jan. 13, 1939 left her very much alone, but she carried on in her own home until 1959 when she entered the Bethel Home for the Aged.

Her two children preceded her in death. A daughter, Mrs. Alice McElwain, died on March 19, 1959, and son Wilbert in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her death, yet rejoicing with her that her wish to come home has been granted, her son-in-law, Ivyl McElwain; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, three brothers, Marcus Aurenheimer [sic Auernheimer] of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ed Aurenheimer [sic Auernheimer] of Augusta, Kan.; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Heer of Summerfield, Ill., Mrs. Frieda Langenwalter of Paso Robles, Calif., Mrs. Bertha Krehbiel of Detroit, Kan., Mrs. Amalia Bartel of Newton, Kan., and Mrs. Emma Vogt of Moundridge, Kan.

Funeral services were conducted Feb. 21, 1963 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Mennonite Church of Halstead with Rev. A. E. Funk officiating. Burial was made in the Halstead Cemetery.
