WADE H. SHANK
Wade Heatwole Shank, 99, of Harrisonburg, Va., died Feb. 3, 1997, at Oak Lea Nursing Home in Harrisonburg, where he had been a resident for three years. Shank was born Jan. 21, 1989, in Rockingham County, the son of John W. and Hanna F. Heatwole Shank.
He returned to Harrisonburg from Waynesboro in 1942 and was a member of Weaver's Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg. He had been employed by the Rockingham Co-op Farm Bureau and retired from the maintenance department of Eastern Mennonite University.
On Dec. 20, 1928, he married Vada Swartz, who died Jan. 19, 1991.
Survivors include a son, Orval of Penn Laird; a daughter, Evonne Showalter of Newport News; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A memorial service was held at Weaver's Mennonite Church. Burial was in Weaver's Mennonite Church Cemetery.
