• Mrs. Elizabeth J. Goering, 90, widow of John J. MRS. ELISABETH GOERING
Elisabeth Zerger Goering, daughter of Joshua and Freni Stucky Zerger, was born on Feb. 22, 1884. She died on Nov. 23, 1974 at the Memorial Home for the Aged, Moundridge, Kan., reaching the age of 90.
She received her education in an elementary school, in both the English and German languages. She was baptized on Oct. 8, 1899 and became a member of the Hoffnungsfeld (Eden) church.
She helped take care of her uncle's family during the illness and after the death of her aunt, Mrs. Peter Zerger.
She married John J. Goering on May 6, 1902 and took over the household duties in the home and a mother's place in the family. she became a loving mother to five children, showing much courage, sacrifice and devotion. This union of 35 years was blessed with 11 more children. Two of them preceded her in death.
In the home daily devotions were never neglected. Church attendance was always encouraged.
Her husband died march 18, 1937, at the age of 70, after which mother carried on till her health failed. She spent the last three years in the Memorial Home.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were five children, Carl, Paul, Christian, Edmund, and Anna; Evelyn, daughter-in-law; John Kaufman and Max Smith, sons-in-law.
