● Esther (Schmidt) Klassen, 75, of Goessel, died Dec. 28 at Newton Medical Center. Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Goessel. Ray and Brenda Martin Hurst officiated. Burial was in Tabor Cemetery. She farmed and was a homemaker in the Newton area, moving to Bethesda Home for the Aged in 1974. Survivors include two sons, Harlin and Richard, both of Newton; one daughter, Delores Schroeder of Sedgwick; one brother, Ferd Schmidt of Goessel; two sisters, Olga Pankratz of Goessel and Helen Janzen of North Newton; and five grandchildren. Her husband, Herbert, died in 1962. | |||
