— Mrs. Mary Matthies, 62, wife of George Matthies, died Saturday night, April 2, at the Halstead hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Mennonite church of Halstead, Rev. Roland Goering in charge. A long-time resident of Halstead, Mrs. Matthies had lived in Newton since last December.
