PETER JANZEN

Peter G. Janzen was born July 4, 1877, in South Preheim [sic Gnadenheim, Molotschna], Russia. In 1878, at the age of one year, he, with his parents, came to Henderson, Nebr., where he grew to manhood. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith and received as a member into the Mennonite Brethren church, Henderson, Nebr.

He was united in holy matrimony with Eva Huebert on June 23, 1903. In the same year he joined the Bethesda Mennonite church. In 1926 the family moved to Madrid, Nebr., where they made their home until 1935, at which time they moved back to Henderson.

To this union were born six children: Nick of Burlington, Colo., Mrs. H. A. (Elizabeth) Friesen of Mt. Lake, Minn., Pete of Madrid, Nebr., Mrs. Dan (Eva) Tessman of Elsie, Nebr., Lester of Los Angeles, Calif., and John, who preceded his father in death.

Father's health had been failing during the past year and a half. On Oct. 5, 1948, at 6:30 a. m., the Lord called him to his heavenly home. He reached the age of 71 years, three months and one day.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, five children, three daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, two sisters, two brothers, 17 grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.

He was a good husband and father, always a wise counsellor to the family. He felt that God had blessed his home and rejoiced to know that his children had come to know Christ as their Savior and Lord. He was patient in suffering, but longed for the time when his Lord would call him home. Although we will miss him greatly, rejoice that he has gone to his eternal rest, awaiting the coming of the Lord, that he may be united with his loved ones. — The Family.
