— Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Hilda Wedel Osburn, 60, which occurred Sept. 12 at St. Clair, Mo. Mrs. Osburn was born in Newton while her father, the late Rev. C. H. Wedel, was serving as president of Bethel college. Relatives here include an aunt, Mrs. Sara Richert, and an uncle, Dr. D. H. Richert of North Newton. Funeral services were held at St. Clair on Tuesday, Sept. 15. | |||

Hilda Wedel Osburn, daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. C. H. Wedel, passed away at her home in St. Clair, Missouri Saturday night, Sept. 12, following a series of heart attacks. | |||
She was born May 30, 1899 in Newton, Kan. while her father was president of Bethel college. She received her education in the Newton schools, at Bethel College, and Pomona college in Claremont, Calif. After graduation she taught school in Wyoming. | |||
Most of the years since her marriage to Olaf R. Osburn were spent in Missouri. | |||
Her interest in music found an outlet in the music program of the church, and her enjoyment of good literature led her to promote the establishment o a library in St. Clair. She served as its librarian for a number of years. Always interested in the work of the church, Mrs. Osburn gave her time to it as her health permitted. Last year she was the state president of United Church Women of Missouri. | |||
She found great joy in the visits of her sons and their families. Besides her husband, those who mourn her passing are her sons, Leslie of St.Louis, Robert of Mexico, Mo., and Morris (Buck) of Washington, D.C., and their families, and numerous relatives and friends in the mid-Kansas area. Mrs. Sara Richert of Newton is an aunt of the deceased and D. H. Richert, North Newton, is an uncle. One brother, Dr. Oswald Wedel of Tucson, Ariz., preceded her in death. | |||
