— Edgar L. Hirschler, 81, lifelong resident of the Halstead community, died May 28 at Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton. He was a retired farmer and dairyman, and a member of the First Mennonite Church of Halstead where the funeral was conducted on Tuesday forenoon, Rev. Melvin Schmidt, the pastor, and Rev. Peter Goering of Lehigh officiated. Mr. Hirschler leaves his widow, the former Amelia Berger; sons Willard of Carpenteria [''sic'' Carpinteria], Calif., and John of New Orleans, La.; one daughter, Elizabeth Hirschler of Topeka; a sister, Martha Hirschler of Halstead; and three grandchildren. | |||
