AGED GRANDFATHER, NATIVE OF RUSSIA, DIED AT REEDLEY

Reedley, Calif. — Peter P. Reimer, 82, a resident of Reedley for the past 12 years, died at his home here Jan. 8. He was a native of South Russia.

Funeral services were conducted at the Mennonite Brethren church here Jan. 12, Rev. Dan Friesen and Rev. H. R. Wiens officiating. He leaves three daughters, three sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

PETER P. REIMER

Peter P. Reimer, our loving husband and father, was born on Nov. 20, 1874, in Wienersdorf, South Russia. in 1892 he came to America with his parents, Cornelius and Katherina Keihn [sic Koehn] Reimer. They settled on a farm in Marion County, Kansas.

As a young man he went to Corn, Okla., and there was united with Maria Kroeker in holy matrimony on April 27, 1899. this union which lasted 57 years, eight months and 11 days, was blessed with seven children, three daughters and four sons. One son, Isaac, preceded his father in death.

After their marriage they settled on a farm near Corn, Okla. Here they spent many happy days but also encountered many struggles and difficulties which were connected with the early pioneer life.

Shortly after their marriage they came to realize their lost condition without Christ, and accepted Him as personal Savior. On June 18, 1901, they were baptized and united with the Mennonite Brethren Church for fellowship. To his Lord and the church our father remained faithful and loyal to the last.

Our father enjoyed comparatively good health. On Oct. 15, 1944, they moved to Reedley, Calif. and retired from active work. on Nov. 18, 1956, father suffered a stroke. He spent some time in the hospital but was brought back to the home of his children, Dr. and Mrs. Schlichting, where he was cared for.

In the last two weeks of his life he had a special joy in the Lord and a longing to depart to be with his Savior. On Jan. 8, 1957, at 6:40 in the morning, the call from above came and his sour departed to meet its Maker. He reached the age of 82 years, one month and 18 days. he was the last of a family of seven brothers and four sisters to depart this world.

Those who remain to mourn in a special way in this hour of bereavement are: his wife, Mrs. Maria Reimer, Reedley, Calif.; three sons, A. Paul Reimer of Yale, Okla., William Reimer of Chicago, Ill., Jacob Reimer of Blaine, Wash.; three daughters, Katie, Mrs. Menno Bergman of Weatherford, Okla., Anna, Mrs. Arnold W. Schlichting of Reedley, Calif., and Mrs. Gertrude Thiesen [sic Thiessen], Fresno, Calif.; also one foster daughter, Mrs. Luella Penner Goyer of Sallisaw, Okla., who sepnt [sic] 12 years in our home. Besides these there are six brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Though we sorrow at this time, we rejoice that father could be delivered and go Home to meet his Lord. — The Family.
