The army helicopter of which he was co-pilot collided with another aircraft while leaving a landing zone, then crashed and burned. | |||
Mr. Hiebert was a 1970 graduate of Bethel College. He was married last March 14 to Kathie Judd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Judd of Newton. She is now living with her parents and attending Bethel College. | |||

• Funeral services for John M. Hiebert, 23, who was killed Dec. 2 in a helicopter crash in South Vietnam, were held Tuesday afternoon at the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Rev. Robert Walter, the pastor, and Rev. Louis Dale of Newton officiated. Survivors of Mr. Hiebert include his widow, the former Kathie Judd, of Newton, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hiebert of Hesston. He was a 1970 graduate of Bethel College, and a faculty memorial committee is receiving contributions to buy books for the college library which will be designated as memorial volumes. | |||

Newton, Kan. — The family of John M. Hiebert, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hiebert of Hesston, was informed Monday that he was fatally injured Dec. 2 while on a military mission in Vietnam.
