Friesen, 77, of Route 2, Newton, who died Sunday at Bethesda Hospital in Goessel.  Officiating at the services will be Rev. Aaron Epp, the pastor, Miller Funeral Home of Goessel is in charge of arrangements.  Mrs. Friesen, the former Susie Goertzen, was a lifelong resident of Marion County.  Her marriage to Mr. Friesen took place in 1918, at which time they moved to the present farm home near Goessel.  He survives with a son, Randolf, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. T. J. Deasy of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Alvin Goerzen of rural Newton, and Mrs. Nick Martens of Inman; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elmer Friesen of Newton; 11 grandchildren; five brothers and one sister.

<center><h3>MRS. DAN B. FRIESEN</h3></center>
Mrs. Dan B. Friesen, nee Susie Goertzen, was born on Aug. 5, 1892 to Jacob H. and Helena Schmidt Goertzen in Marion County, Kansas.
She attended the Heimbaugh elementary school. She was baptized on June 4, 1911 by Elder Heinrich Banman and received into the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.
On April 25, 1918 she was married to Daniel B. Friesen, Rev. Peter H. Unruh officiated. They moved onto a farm east of Goessel which is still the family home. It was their privilege to celebrate the 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries.
As a member of the church she was also an active member of the Alexanderwohl Mission Society and Sunday school. She was faithful to her family and exercised motherly concern in a genuine and pleasant way. This was particularly illustrated when Elmer became a diabetic as a young boy.
She was hospitalized on Dec. 1, 1969 and came home the 17th with renewed hope. The following day, however, she suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized until her death. She died in the Bethesda Hospital on Feb. 15, 1970, having reached the age of 77.
Those remaining to cherish the memory of her life include her husband; their children, Linda and husband T. J. Deasy of Spokane, Wash., Martha and husband Alvin W. Goerzen of Rt. 2, Newton, Wilma and husband Nick Martens of Inman, and Randolf at home; grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elmer Friesen, Newton; one sister, Martha, Mrs. J. B. Schmidt, Rt. 2. Newton; five brothers, Henry S. Goertzen of Newton, Arnold S. and Jacob S. Goertzen of Goessel, Philip S. Goertzen of Rt. 2, Newton, and Ferd S. Goertzen of Hillsboro. One son, Elmer, and two grandsons preceded her in death.
