Minister & Deacon Called By Death
Bird-in-Hand, Pa. — The Uupper [sic Upper] Millcheek [sic Mill Creek] District of the Old Order Amish church here recently suffered the loss of both a deacon and a minister through death.
The aged Pre. John Speicher of Route 5, Lancaster, was called away in death on June 10 at the age of 79. He was the last surviving member of his family, and leaves his wife, the former Katie Petersheim, children and grandchildren.
On the day of the Speicher funeral, Deacon Daniel E. Stoltzfus, 69, of the same district died suddenly of a heart attack. However, he had been in ill health for several years. He also is survived by his wife, who was Sarah Blank, and by children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
