• Mrs. Elizabeth Goertz, 76, wife of John P. Goertz of Moundridge, died Saturday, June 30, at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday forenoon at the West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge, with Rev. Harris Waltner in charge. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, one son, and five sisters.

Mrs. Elizabeth Goertz, daughter of Andrew and Katharina Flaming, was born at Hillsboro, Kan. on March 5, 1886. In her youth she moved with her family to Bessie, Okla. Later they returned to Hillsboro.

On August 29, 1915 she was united in marriage with John P. Goertz. This union was blessed with the birth of a daughter and a son.

The family lived at Hillsboro; and also at Carnduff, Sask. and Newton and Hesston, Kansas. Since 1930 they have made their residence in Moundridge.

Upon her confession of faith she was baptized in the Mennonite Brethren Church of Hillsboro on April 12, 1903. Since 1931 she had been a member of the West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge. She served actively in the church and in community service activities.

She became ill and was admitted to the Mercy Hospital in Moundridge. Four days later she was transferred to the Bethel Hospital in Newton. Her earthly life came to a close on Saturday morning, June 30, having attained an age of 76 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John P. Goertz; one daughter, Grayce of Manhattan; one son, Richard and his wife Mary of Bartlesville, Okla.; one step-daughter, Gladys and her husband Clifford Oaks, of Opa Loeka, Florida; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Selma Wiebe of Hillsboro, Mrs. Anna Groening of Hillsboro, Mrs. Nellie Friesen of Hillsboro, Mrs. Margaret Harder of Moundridge, and Mrs. Katherine Regehr of Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by two brothers (George and John) and one sister (Mrs. Agnes Toews).

MRS. ELIZABETH GOERTZ

Mrs. Elizabeth Goertz, daughter of Andrew and Katharina Flaming, was born at Hillsboro, Kan. on March 5, 1886. In her youth she moved with her family to Bessie, Okla. Later they returned to Hillsboro.
