Clayton Daniel Showalter, 79, of Harrisonburg, Va., and formerly of Linville, died Jan. 20, 1997, at Avanté at Harrisonburg Nursing Home. | |||
He was born Dec. 1, 1917, near Linville to Irvin Daniel and Sallie Shank Showalter. | |||
He was an insurance agent for Goodville Mutual and a bookkeeper for a number of years. He was a member of Morning View Mennonite Church, where he served as deacon, treasurer and song leader. He also served on the Eastern Mennonite University board of trustees. | |||
On Aug. 19, 1941, he married Thelma Getz, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Samuel of Harrisonburg; four daughters, Millie Bennett of Castle Rock, Colo., Miriam Wenger of Waynesboro, Elva Rhodes of Harrisonburg and Bonnie Greene of South Hill; a brother, David E. of Irwin, Ohio; three sisters, Alma Hartzler of Dayton, Eula Showalter of Harrisonburg and Arlene Hartman of Linville; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vada E. Showalter. | |||

CLAYTON D. SHOWALTER
Clayton Daniel Showalter, 79, of Harrisonburg, Va., and formerly of Linville, died Jan. 20, 1997, at Avanté at Harrisonburg Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 1, 1917, near Linville to Irvin Daniel and Sallie Shank Showalter.
