MRS. ED R. KREHBIEL

Lena Graber Krehbiel, daughter of Jacob K. and Maria Graber Graber, was born Oct. 26, 1902 in Pretty Prairie, Kan. She died on Aug. 14, 1973 at the Foothills Medical Hospital, El Cajon, Calif., where she was visiting her son.

On April 11, 1920 she was baptized by Rev. J. B. Epp and became a member of the First Mennonite Church at Pretty Prairie where she remained a faithful and active member until her death.

She graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1921 and continued her education at Bethel College. After obtaining her teaching certificate she taught in McPherson and Reno Counties for several years. More recently she again assumed an active role in education by teaching eight years in the Red Star and Arlington School systems.

On July 31, 1927 she married Ed R. Krehbiel and they shared life’s joys and sorrows for 45 years. Her husband passed away Sept. 8, 1972 and she lived alone the past year, facing the uncertainties of failing health. Her steadfast faith and devotion to God and the prayerful support of many friends and relatives gave her the strength and courage to endure her physical discomforts.

She leaves to mourn her departure two sons, Marlowe of El Cajon, Calif. and Janver of Okemos, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Joleen Schrag, Topeka, Kan.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Paul J. Voran, Pretty Prairie, and Mrs. Arthur Waltner, Hutchinson; and one brother, W. W. Graber, Pretty Prairie.
