Mary Gerig, daughter of the late Pre. Daniel and Katie (Roth) Erb was born in Washington county, Iowa on April 22, 1880, passed away at Albany, Oregon March 21, 1955, aged 74 years, 10 months, 30 days. Cause of her death a cerebral hemorrhage. | |||
On Dec. 19, 1906, she was united in marriage to Simon C. Gerig who preceded her in death seven years ago. | |||
Surviving are four daughters, Martha (Mrs. Sam Eicher), Annie (Mrs. Glenn Yoder), of Albany, Oregon, Agnes (Mrs. Elmer Boshart), Scio, Oregon, and Mary (Mrs. Chriss Nofzinger), Kalona, Iowa; one sister, Lydia, Mrs. Dan Nofzinger, Lebanon, Oregon; 10 grandchildren, four step-children, one great step-child, and many other relatives and friends. | |||
At the age of 14 she dedicated her life to the Lord and was baptized as a charter member with the first class of converts at the Fairview Mennonite church near Albany, Oregon, where she served as Sunday School teacher for over 40 years, and was kind, loving, and helpful to others. She will be missed in the family, church and community. | |||
At the age of seven years, she moved to Thurman, Colo. and at the age of 14 years she moved to Oregon and live [''sic''] in the vicinity of Albany the rest of her life. | |||
Services at the funeral home were in charge of Rev. M. E. Brenneman, followed by services at the Fairview Mennonite church. Rev. N. A. Lind had charge of the opening, and Rev. N. M. Birky gave the sermon. Concluding services at Riverside cemetery were in charge of Rev. Paul Yoder. — The Family. | |||
