• Mrs. Susie Friesen, 86, died Monday at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson. a native of the Buhler community, she was married to David Wiens at Turpin, Okla. in 1912. Following his death in 1917, she was married in 1919 to Dr. I. H. Friesen of Henderson, Neb. He died in 1936. She lived at Henderson until returning to Buhler six years ago. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, with Rev. Paul Isaak in charge. Mrs. Friesen was a member of the Bethesda Church at Henderson.

MRS. SUSIE FRIESEN

Mrs. Susie Becker Wiens Friesen, daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Dyck) Becker, was born near Buhler, Kan. The following is the account of her life as she has written it.

I was born Jan. 13, 1882, near Buhler, Kan., where I also received my elementary education. I was baptized June 4, 1900, by Elder Dietrich Gaeddert in the Hoffnungsau Church. I was a member here until 1908, when my mother passed away. Then my father, two brothers and I moved to Turpin, Okla. where we joined the Friedensfeld Church.

On Jan. 10, 1912, I was married to David Wiens, which was a marriage of the short duration of three and a half years. Then the Lord took him from my side. I was then alone with two small children, Arnold, 2, and Cornelius, five months, which was very hard. On Aug. 15, 1919, Cornelius passed away.

On Sept. 19, 1919, I was married to Dr. Isaac H. Friesen of Inman, Kan., where I then took responsibility of six children. One son, Herman, was born to us. When he was two years old he drowned. The Lord gave me strength, and I could say, "Whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth."

After my marriage to Dr. Friesen I became a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, Kan., until 1924, when we decided to go to Henderson, Neb. where we joined the Bethesda Mennonite Church. (She remained a member of the Bethesda Church until her passing.)

At Henderson I helped Dr. Friesen as much as I could with his work as a chiropractor, until he passed away on Sept. 23, 1936. Then again I was alone and have lived these years by myself.

Mrs. Friesen lived at Henderson until in 1962, when she moved to the Sunshine Home, Buhler, Kan. She passed away on Sept. 2, 1968, at the Grace Hospital, Hutchinson, at the age of 86 years. She was the last of her immediate family to pass away, having been preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and two brothers. Surviving her are: a son, Arnold Wiens and wife Leola of Ayrs, Neb. ; two step-sons, Jake Friesen and wife Marie and Isaac Friesen of Inman; three step-daughters, Mrs. Agnes Penner of Henderson, Neb., Katherine and husband Pete Kroeker of Hampton, Neb., Agatha and husband Leroy Larson of Independence, Mo.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
