MRS. CATHERINE SCHIFFLER

Catherine Schiffler, daughter of Emmanuel and Nancy Lapp, was born at Roseland, Neb., March 31, 1885, and passed away May 31, 1957 at Filer, Idaho, at the age of 72 years and two months.

She was married to John Schiffler, son of Bishop Albrecht Schiffler, on Feb. 14, 1906 at Roseland, Nebr. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 18,1951.

She is survived by two sons, Enos of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Allen of Filer, Idaho; also one daughter, Rachel (Mrs. Wilbur Holderreed of Aibonito, Puerto Rica) survives. One daughter, Esther Lois, preceded her in death when she was a child. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two brothers, Frank and Daniel Lapp, both of Kalispell, Mont., and four sisters, Esther (Mrs. Eli Shank, Brownsville, Oregon); Sadie (Mrs. Harvey Shank, Filer, Idaho); Ruth (Mrs. Guy Shank, Nampa, Idaho), and Frances (Mrs. Jonas Kauffman, Mollala, Oregon).

The family moved to Filer, Idaho from Roseland, Neb. in October 1918. Here she served in various activities of the church and since the death of her companion she spent much of her time in caring for the sick, besides being sincerely devoted to her family and friends.

She united with the Mennonite church at Roseland, Neb. when in her youth and remained faithful until death.

She had gone to stay with an elderly lady the night of her death and when she didn't arise in the morning on time they went in and found her peacefully asleep in Jesus.

Her funeral was held at the Filer Mennonite church on June 6, 1957, conducted by Rev. Louis Landis, who was assisted by the Rev. S. Honderich. the text used was Rev. 17:14.

She leaves a host of friends, who were expecting to have her in their midst as she had been in Arizona the past seven months and had just come home May 21; but we know God's ways are best. — Mrs. Sadie Shank.
