— The many friends of Mrs. Frieda Voth Flaming, wife of Jake Flaming, were deeply shocked when word spread on Wednesday morning that she was mangled to death by a bull at the family home several miles east of Goessel.  Seeing the bull entangled with his chain in some tree stumps about 300 feet back of the barn, she went out to loosen him.  He, upon being released, turned and attacked her.  She had been rolled a considerable distance before her husband, who was doing the morning’s milking in the barn, became aware of her distress and rushed to her aid.  In his attempt to tie the enraged animal to a nearby tree he himself was attacked, but finally succeeded in getting the chain fastened.  When he got back to his wife she spoke only a few more words and several moments later passed away.  Upon hearing of the tragedy, neighbors quickly gathered at the farm home and later in the day took the still unmanageable bull to the Wichita market.  Mrs. Voth [''sic'' Flaming] is survived by her grief-stricken husband, a 16 year old daughter, her aged parents, and one brother, Ernest Voth.  the date for the funeral services, which will be held at the Alexanderwohl church, has not yet been announced.

MRS. FRIEDA VOTH FLAMING

Mrs. Frieda Voth Flaming, adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Voth, was born January 19, 1909, at Hillsboro, Kansas, and departed this life August 6, 1947, at the age of 38 years, six months and 18 days.

She was brought up in a Christian home and received her elementary education in the Green Valley school. She also attended the preparatory school at Goessel.

On May 23, 1926, she was baptized on confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by the Elder P. H. Unruh and received into the fellowship of the Alexanderwohl church, whose faithful member she remained to her death. Many blessings has she received from the Sunday School and the worship service.

On October 29, 1929, she was united in holy matrimony to Jacob Flaming. For 17 years, nine months and eight days they shared joys and sorrows together. The union was blessed with one daughter, Viola. Frieda was a loving wife and a good mother. Many sweet memories will linger with the bereaved family in the years to come.

She was much concerned about the spiritual welfare of her home. Work was never too pressing to neglect a short worship service at the breakfast table. She was a willing worker int he home and ready to lend a helping hand to parents, neighbors and friends.

It is hard to understand why she had to meet such a terrible death but trust it was to glorify God.

She leaves to mourn her early death her deeply sorrowing husband and daughter; her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Voth; one brother, Earnest, his wife and two children; her mother-in-law, Mrs. J. A. flaming; four sisters-in-law, Mary, Mrs. Dave F. Voth, Eva, Mrs. Rudolf Hiebert, Katie, Mrs. C. H. Janzen, Margaret, Mrs. Edwin Epp and their husbands and children; four brothers-in-law, Sam, Frank, Abe, Solomon and their wives and children; also 34 nieces and nephews.

Yes, I know you loved me,

But Jesus loved me more
I went to Him in glory
His wondrous works adore.

My work on earth is finished
My pains with patience bore
As I thought of Him who saved me
On the cross of Calvary.

Do not grieve nor sorrow
Though lonely you may be
God's providence will guide thee
Where'er your footsteps lead.

And may your Heavenly Father
Look down upon thee now
And keep you always faithful, till

Your souls be joined with mine.

Funeral services were held on August 8, at 10:00 o'clock, at the Alexanderwohl church in charge of Rev. C. C. Wedel, text Psalm 23:4, and Rev. H. B. Schmidt, text Mark 4;25.
