Goshen, Ind. — Funeral services were conducted at the College Mennonite Church here on Nov. 18 for Prof. John J. Fisher Sr., 82, who sustained fatal injuries in a traffic accident early Saturday morning, Nov. 14. | |||
Prof. Fisher was alone in his car when it was struck by a semitrailer at a highway intersection at Warsaw. He died Sunday morning at Murphy Medical Center there. | |||
A native of Johnson County, Iowa, Prof. Fisher graduated from Goshen College in 1913 and received his master’s degree from Indiana University in 1915. He taught at Goshen College in 1911-13 and 1918-23, and served as registrar in 1919-21 and as academic dean in 1921-23. For many years he taught in the psychology department at Bloomsburg (Pa.) State Teachers College, retiring in 1950. He was also a school psychologist in Harrisburg, Pa, and at the time of his death was serving in the same capacity in this area. | |||
Prof. Fisher was married to the farmer Alma Warye. She died in 1964, the year after they moved to Goshen. Survivors include a son, Prof. John J. Fisher Jr. of Goshen; two granddaughters; a brother, Bishop Daniel J. Fisher, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Guengerich, both of Kalona, Iowa. | |||

Retired Professor Killed in Indiana Highway Crash
