Newton friends received the sad news that David Unruh of Buhler was killed by a train there early this week.  Mr. Unruh, who was well over 70 years of age, farmed in the Buhler community most of his life but had lived in retirement for about four or five years.
Being hard of hearing, it is thought he was evidently unaware of the approaching train as he crossed the Frisco tracks in town.  His home was in the northern part near the Mennonite Brethren church, of which he was a member.

&#8212; A number of relatives and friends from this community attended the funeral services for David W. Unruh at the Mennonite Brethren church in Buhler last Friday afternoon.  Mr. Unruh was accidentally killed by a Frisco train early last week as he was walking along the railroad tracks near his home in the northern part of town.  Being hard of hearing, he evidently failed to hear the train before it was right at his side.  In some unusual manner the engine and several cars passed him and he was struck by one of the cars father to the rear.  The funeral on Friday was conducted by Rev. J. E. Hildebrandt, Rev. C. E. fast and Rev. J. W. Vogt of Hillsboro.
