Elsie Epp Voth was born Jan. 21, 1920, near Henderson, Neb., the daughter of Jacob F. and Sarah Dahlke Epp. Her father died in 1922. | |||
She grew up in the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church. Later her family transferred membership to Bethesda Mennonite Church, where she was baptized by her uncle John F. Epp. Later she joined Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, Kan. | |||
After elementary and high school, she attended York College for a year before teaching in Henderson area schools for several years before graduating from Bethel College, North Newton, Kan., in 1950. | |||
She was married to Stan Voth on Aug. 15, 1950. For four years they lived at Freeman, S. D., where her husband was employed in the Freeman Junior College public relations department and she taught in the elementary school. | |||
The family moved to Henderson in 1957. In the next 30 years, she raised a family, taught elementary school and spent a year in graduate school in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was involved in youth and social service groups and was a strong supporter of community functions. She was a member of the Bethesda Church choir. She was active in the Henderson Community Hospital Auxiliary when her husband was hospital administrator. | |||
She retired from teaching in 1981. After their retirement in 1987, she and her husband moved to a new home in North Newton, Kan., and she became involved in college, church and service groups. | |||
She died unexpectedly Nov. 1, 1990. Her survivors include her husband, Stan; two children and their spouses, Tim and Carolyn Voth and Debra and Ken Gaeddert; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Hilda Buller of Henderson, Neb., and Anna Cunningham of Worthington, Minn. She was preceded in death by one grandson. | |||

ELSIE EPP VOTH
