• Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Regier Epp, 76, were held Monday afternoon at the Bethel College Church. Rev. Russel Mast officiated. Mrs. Epp, who had not been ill, died in her sleep at the home in North Newton early Friday morning, Jan. 13. She and her husband, Cornelius D. Epp, who died in 1957, farmed near Henderson, Neb. for a number of years. They moved to North Newton from York, Neb. in 1950. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Thomas J. Luellen of Wichita and Mrs. Robert Senner of Buhler; a foster son, Henry Remple of Lawrence; two sisters and two brothers; and nine grandchildren. | |||

These words from the Psalms portray the blessed way in which 'Bertha Regier Epp passed from this life to the everlasting one. After a day of usual activity, she died in her sleep in the early morning hours of Jan. 13, 1967 at the home in North Newton, Kan. | |||
She was born Dec. 1, 1890, at Goessel, Kan., the daughter of David and Katherina Regier. She grew upon a farm and attended school in the Goessel community. | |||
On June 4, 1911 she was baptized and received into the membership of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel. | |||
Her marriage to Cornelius D. Epp took place March 15, 1913 at the home of her parents near Goessel. They took up residence near Henderson, Neb. where they engaged in farming. A son, Richard who died in infancy, and two daughters were born to them, and they also took into their home a foster son. | |||
In 1942 our parents left the farm and moved to York, Neb. In 1950 they moved to North Newton, erecting a home on Main St., where they spent the rest of their years.s Our father died May 20, 1957. | |||
During the years of residence at Henderson, the family held membership in the Bethesda Mennonite Church. Upon coming to North Newton, they transferred their membership to the Bethel College Mennonite Church. | |||
Having attended Bethel Academy, she maintained a lively interest in Bethel College as well as in Mennonite folklore. A major interest was quilting and sewing in support of the missions and relief work of the church. She also assisted regularly at the North Newton Cutting Room, helping prepare yard goods for relief garments. | |||
