THROWN FROM BUGGY IN RUNAWAY, SUFFERS FATAL INJURIES
Goshen, Ind. — A runaway horse caused the death of Mrs. Jacob F. (Susan) Wickey, 58, who was thrown from the buggy pulled by the animal on a country road near Shipshewana Lake Aug. 16. She suffered a fractured skull and died before a doctor reached the scene.
Mrs. Wickey, who had only one hand, was en route to the home of her dughter-in-law [sic], Mrs. John Wickey, and was unable to control the horse when it started to run on the narrow road.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Chupp; and four sons, one of whom, Samuel, is now in North Africa. She was a member of the Amish church.
