MRS. FRANK DYCK
Mrs. Elizabeth Dyck, daughter of Cornelius and Elizabeth Epp, was born on Dec. 1, 1873, in Petershagen, South Russia. She was five years old when her parents emigrated to the United States. On July 4, 1879, they arrived at Burrton, Kansas. They lived with friends northwest of Buhler until her father purchased an 80 acre farm south of Inman. Shortly thereafter, on Oct. 12, 1879, her father died. The same year, in November, her two-year-old brother Henry also died.
On May 31, 1896, she was married to Frank Dyck in Moundridge by Rev. Abr. Buller. After marriage they lived southwest of Moundridge where her husband operated a rural store. In 1899 they moved to Moundridge where she was a resident until her death. Their home life was blessed with the birth of three sons and two daughters. On July 17, 1937, she and her family were saddened by the accidental death of her husband.
She confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized in the Hebron Mennonite Church near Buhler. Later she became a member of the West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge. She is remembered for her deep faith in Christ and her interest in the church.
After November, 1956, her health began to fail and she was confined frequently to the hospital. She spent the last three weeks in the Mercy Hospital (Moundridge) as her strength gradually faded. On Sunday evening, April 7, she was relieved of her pain as God called her home. She reached the age of 83 years, four months and seven days.
She leaves to mourn her departure three sons — Frank E. and wife Cecil [sic Cecile] of Moundridge, August and wife Elsie of Moundridge, and Ed. C. and wife Wilma of Kingman; two daughters, Elizabeth and husband Dave Jantzen of Newton, and Hulda and husband Walter Jantzen of Topeka; one brother, C. C. Epp of Buhler; one sister, Mrs. George Neufeld of Inman; two half brothers, A. T. and P. T. Regier of Buhler, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, John and Henry, and one sister, Marie Froese.
Funeral services were conducted in the West Zion Mennonite Chruch [sic] on April 9, Rev. Harris Waltner officiated.
