Lifetime Resident Dies At Pawnee Rock, Kan.
Pawnee Rock, Kan. — Mrs. John A. Dirks, 77, a resident of this Barton County community throughout her life, died at her home April 14 after suffering a heart attack.
Mrs. Dirks, the former Laura Mae Unruh, was born on a farm south-west of Great Bend on June 5, 1886, the daughter of Tobias G. and Effie Schmidt Unruh. She was married to Mr. Dirks in 1910, and had been a member of the Bergthal Mennonite Church here since 1914.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Eugene, of Dallas, Tex., two sisters, one brother and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted April 17 at the Bergthal church, with Rev. Gary Stenson officiating.
