•  Abraham D. Dirks, 83, retired farmer and long-time resident of the Buhler and Hutchinson communities, died Sept. 1 at Sunshine Home in Buhler.  He was born in South Russia in 1884 and came to Kansas at an early age.  He was a member of the South Hutchinson Methodist Church.  The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at Elliott Funeral Chapel by Rev. Howard F. Smothers.  A son, Harry E. Dick [''sic'' Dirks], resides in Newton.
