+ | ● Jacob H. Decker, at 95 the oldest member of the First Mennonite Church of Newton, died July 14 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. He was a retired farmer. Services were held July 18 with Albert Epp in charge. Decker was married to Ida E. Schmidt in 1905. She died in 1961 and he subsequently married Elsie M. Young who survives. Other survivors include five sons, Orville of Salida, Colo., LaVerne of Peabody, Glenn of Burns, Dwight of Moundridge and Dwayne of Newton; a brother, Jonas of Moundridge; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. |
